Quartz is a crystal found all over the world.  It comes in a variety of colors, such as amethyst, which is purple, citrine, which is yellow, and many more.  Since April’s birth stone is clear quartz, we’ll be focusing on that.

It’s usually found with granite and sedimentary stones.  It can be clear, cloudy, or opaque, sometimes all in the same stone.  It often has inclusions, sometime even rainbows.

Quartz is said to be the most powerful healing crystal.  It brings happiness, recharging energy, and it amplifies the energy of other stones.  It’s a very versatile and beautiful stone in jewelry.  It is also used in meditation, prayer, and healing.

This lovely necklace is made entirely of smokey quartz, a stone for protection and calmness.  The beads are graduated and have been faceted by hand.  It measures 17 inches long, and fastens with a silver ball clasp that is studded with crystals.  This piece is glamorous and perfect for a night out.

Windows are crystals which have been polished by water, and the top is cut to reveal an inner world.  These are sometimes used for scrying, but they’re attractive enough to round out a collection.  The ones pictured, going clockwise, are labradorite, rose quartz, clear quartz, and amethyst.  We also have them in smoky quartz.  They are approximately 2 inches long, 1.5 inches wide, and 1 inch high, but as each stone is different, sizes will vary.

This handsome box has been carved from fossilized stone.  Orthoceras, the ancient ancestors of squid, are sprinkled throughout, and an elegant ammonite rests on top.  The fossils are over 450 million years old, and stand for wisdom.  Every stone is a little different, so each box will be unique.  This measures 5.75 inches long, 3.75 inches wide, and 2 inches tall.  This would make a great gift for a collector!
